ADULT DAY CARE

Definition of a CAREGIVER: It’s a person who takes care of someone. Sometimes to an elderly parent or maybe both parents, sometimes while taking care of other family members, including “adult” children, grandchildren, and as often as not a husband, who tends to get left out, a lot, but not nearly as much as the caregiver herself. “RESPITE” care was designed for caregivers. Adult Day Care helps, especially if the parent is a member of Senior Dimensions, because they get a great discount. Also, they provide for 14 days, (YES 2 whole weeks) of group home care, no charge at, so the caregiver and take a vacation OR just tell the world to go away and hide out, doing nothing for anyone except herself.) That’s hard to do when you haven’t done it for a long time, if ever. CHIPS also provides 14 days of respite care at no charge, but to different rules. You can take breaks in any number of days or all at once. As a caregiver myself, I have used 5 days, in 4 years, and am in need of more right now.

If you are in doubt as to whether a senior can be abused even if there is no one living with them or even visiting, the answer is YES.
Self-neglect is a major form of abuse. It can start as a result of another disease, like Alzheimer's or dementia, depression, drugs , isolation, death of their spouse. Signs of self abuse are: poor hygiene, change of dressing, or behavior, hoarding, not taking prescribed medications, avoiding going to doctor, confusion, and/or not keeping a clean house.
Self neglect is the most common type of abuse.

REVERSE MORTGAGES

If you have access to the internet check out this site
www.everbank.com You can even figure out how much you qualify for or if it is something you want to mess with. New HUD rules recently applied have made this easier.
Also try:
www.reversemortgage.org or call 1.866.264.4466

Reverse mortgages are becoming extremely popular at the time I am writing this. You might as well enjoy the savings you have in your home. If you don't someone else will.

I have found this lady to be honest and very helpful in this type of mortgage. Her name is Cindy Duncan and her # is 702-250-1689. She is not a paid advertisor, she is just a friend that does a good job.

A FEW BITS OF INFORMATION REGARDING REVERSE MORTGAGES.

1. It is a type of equity loan.
2. You need to be at least 62 to qualify.
3. It is tax free.
4. You can get a lump sum, credit line, or monthly check.
5. You may use the money for anything.
6. It could be an estate planning tool.
7. There are no income or credit criteria to meet.
8. Neither is there a lot of paperwork.
9. Neither Social Security nor Medicare benefits are affected.
10. You need to be planning to stay in your home.
11. You are required to go through an interview to qualify. It’s for your own safety.

Property taxes are based on about 1 percent of the property value. The tax fiscal year is July 1 to the following June 30.
Payment may be made in full or in 4 installments. You have a 10 day “grace” period. Don’t mail on the 10th day. Those extra days are for the mail to finally get where it is supposed to be.
Quarterly payments are usually due the first
Monday of August, October, January, March.
To be safe check for the correct date, the RJ publishes it.

If your house payment includes “impounds” for your taxes, write your loan number on your tax bill and forward it to your lender immediately. Make sure they have this paid because the mess it makes if they haven’t will be yours to clean up.

You will also receive a Sanitation Bill. This usually IS NOT paid through your impound account. It is billed July 1st of each year. Check your bill for a discount if you pay it in full or you may pay it quarterly.
